1. Listen To Podcasts

One popular hobby that many people from all professions have found enjoyable is listening to podcasts. There are numerous podcasts on a variety of different topics. This includes anything from sports, to murder mysteries and music.

  • Apple podcasts
  • Google podcasts
  • Spotify
  • Audible
  • Stitcher

If you’re looking for a podcast that discusses topics you care about, you’re bound to find one that’s right for you from one of those sources.

2. Read Books Or Listen To Audiobooks

Taking the time to read books or listen to audiobooks are two other options that you can take advantage of as a trucker. Whether you’re stopping at the bookstore before you hit the road or if you’re reading them online, you can find an assortment of diverse books to read.

If you’re not too keen on reading, you can always try listening to audiobooks instead. Like with podcasts, there are numerous sources where you can find and listen to audiobooks such as:

  • Google play books
  • Audible
  • Audiobooks.com
  • Apple books

Another great thing about audiobooks is that some of them give you the option of being able to listen to the book of your choice be read by an actor. Regardless of which option you choose, books are a great way to keep yourself entertained while you’re on the road.

Artwork can be anything from painting, to sculpting something from clay or another material. That said, some artistic activities require space that the cab of your truck might not be able to accommodate.

The most convenient type of artwork that you can create while on the road is illustrative art. This can include activities like:

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Sketching

Not only do these artistic activities not take up too much space, but the supplies you’ll need to complete them are also easy to pack and store in your truck.

Like most people, you probably have one or more shows that you enjoy watching when you’re not on the road. Thanks to technology, you can still keep up with your shows when you have time to rest.

You can easily access any streaming provider you need to watch your show from any of the following:

  • Laptop

Being able to watch your shows on the road will prevent you from having to binge-watch them when you get back home.

Another one of the many driver hobbies you could get into is writing. Like with artwork, writing can take on many different forms. It could take a few tries to find something that you want to write about, but once you do, you’ll find that writing to be a very therapeutic activity. Some types of writing that you can explore include:

  • Poems
  • Short stories
  • Novels
  • Letters
  • Journaling

As a truck driver, you’ll practically be living on your own inside your truck. Writing is a good way to express the feeling and thoughts you have when you don’t have anywhere else to get them out.

With all the driving you’ll do as a truck driver, it won’t take long for you to have a cool collection of items you’ve obtained during your travels.

10. Complete Puzzles

Puzzles are another great hobby that you can take up as a truck driver. That said, you’re going to need to make sure you have the space to lay your puzzle out and that your puzzle isn’t too large for the space you do have. Puzzles let you exercise your mind and are a therapeutic release for you after a long day out on the road.

11. Learn A New Language

Learning a new language is another hobby you could try out in your free time on the road. When you learn a new language, you’ll be developing new areas of your brain. It will also make traveling to a country where the language you’re learning is the predominant one spoken a bit easier.
